Creative Creatures
Human beings are creative creatures. Look around you. EVERYTHING around you, that is not nature, was created by a human. It first started as an idea in someone’s mind, then was crafted and fashioned from the hands of a human.
Technology has advanced rapidly, and makes creating things today much more efficient. But even technology is the creation of humans. We are at our best when we are creating and building things. It allows us to express our ingenuity, artistic sensibilities, and creative energies. And unlike money, the more creativity you spend, the more you have.
Everyone has their own unique brand of creativity. Some of us are visual artists. Painting, photography, designers, decorators. Do you have a Mom or Grandma who loves to decorate the house for holidays? Yes, that’s a creative genius!
Other people have aural and linguistic abilities. Musicians, singers, poets, writers, speakers. These creations often find the beauty and truth in life, and reflect it back to us in creative and interesting ways.
Still others create with their hands and machines. Gardeners who get their hands in the dirt and create beautiful flowers and delicious vegetable gardens. Carpenters who craft strong and elegant furniture from their hands, or even someone who makes a bird box from wood. Powerful creations!
Elements of Art
All of it, in some way, when done with creativity, energy, passion, and giving, is art. Think about the server at a restaurant. The one who stands out as doing an amazing job. They have energy, skill, a positive and helpful demeanor. This person is an artist. They are creating. They create joy, a wonderful experience, and human connection. These are powerful creations.
You see, no matter what you are doing, what you are good at, or what you desire, you are always creating. When it is giving the gift of humanity to someone else, then you are creating art. We are all artists. We are all creators. Become conscious of this and your life will begin to change.
What are you creating? How do you connect, gift, and uplift the people around you? What projects are you conceptualizing and building? What beautiful things are you bringing into the world? As we’ve discussed above, it doesn’t have to be spectacular. It could be as simple as putting together a bouquet of flowers for the dinner table.
I challenge you today to create. Begin a new project. Write a blog or poem. Compose a song. Plant a flower. Call someone unexpectedly and tell them you love them. Creations come in all shapes and sizes. But they are all important.
Creating allows us to be fully human. It’s in our spirit. Like the tree grows toward the sun, our soul longs to create. Let it flow. Enjoy it. Then, keep creating. It’s what we are here to do.
