The first ever "Champ Champ" is back in the headlines for all the wrong reasons..
The MMA superstar is currently under investigation for an assault he allegedly committed in July of 2022. In a new report from Spain's Majorca Daily Bulletin, McGregor is said to have physically attacked a woman on his yacht while partying in Ibiza.
The potential victim is reported to be a woman whom Conor knew from his own neighborhood in Dublin, Ireland. The woman stated she was invited on to Conor's yacht after celebrating his 34th birthday last summer.
The Incident
The alleged incident occurred after partying together in the VIP section at Ocean Beach Club on July 16th. After a nightlong escapade of booze and fun with McGregor and his crew, the group hopped on Conor's yacht. According to the accuser, Conor then began to berate the woman about her appearance before kicking her in the midsection and punching her in the chin. Also, threatening to drown her.
In a statement to Garda, Irelands police service the unnamed woman said, "All his behavior changed at that moment, It was as if he was possessed. I knew that I had to get off the boat because I thought that he was going to kill me. … We have mutual friends and I have met him numerous times. I can’t believe what he did to me. He is a criminal. I think he would have killed me if I hadn’t got off the yacht.”
The woman in question added that she chose to jump from the boat into the ocean in fear for her life. They happened to be right off the coast of the small island of Formentera. And then was rescued by a Red Cross boat and returned to shore.
Spain's Ultima Hora also released a report on the incident. Explaining that the alleged victim first told rescuers that McGregor attacked her. Only to refuse to ID McGregor moments later when questioned by the Spanish Civil Guard. Adamantly stating that she just wanted to go back home to Ireland.
Within a few days upon returning home the woman filed a formal complaint against McGregor, leading to the current investigation. McGregor has denied any wrongdoings regarding the incident.
Let's Wait
As hard as it is to believe the majority of the allegations that come out against superstar athletes, I wouldn't put this too bed just yet. McGregor is no stranger to violent outbursts and doing wild stuff. Whether he's punching old guys in bars, or throwing dollies through bus windows, it's no question The Notorious can be a loose cannon.
After his last fight in July of 2021, Conor has been recovering from a horrific leg injury. Seemingly doing nothing but taking PED's and partying. That's a combo that might very well lead to something like this happening. Let's hope not and we'll update this story as more becomes available.
