This weekend caps off a trilogy, in which the current score is one-to-one. Current champion Leon Edwards meets the man he stole the belt from, Kamaru Usman, in the octagon at UFC 286. In the co-main event, lightweight contenders Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev will scrap in what promises to be entertaining. As with all of the cards that have taken place in the UK, there is a stacked card loaded with fighters from that region. Murderer's Row
There are a lot of great lightweight fights on the horizon, and it remains the UFC's marquee weight class. This week, we see perennial lightweight title challenger Justin Gaethje take on up-and-comer Rafael Fiziev. Surprisingly enough, Justin Gatehje is an underdog, at +190. Fiziev has been bulldozing his way through the division, putting on memorable fights along the way. It helps that he's got a great skill set and trains at Tiger Muay Thai. Justin Gaethje is a proven force though. This is a major test for Fiziev. He needs to watch out for Justin's powerful hands and leg kicks, whereas Justin needs to avoid Fiziev's combos and body kicks. Justin has squashed other contender's title hopes in recent years, and I'm sure he hopes to do the same here. It's going to be a great fight either way, and with the bombs these men will throw at each other, someone is likely to go to sleep.
Rocky's Trilogy
Leon "Rocky" Edwards won his last fight against Kamaru Usman via head kick in the final minutes of the fifth round. He had lost almost the entirety of the bout up until that point, but in a cinematic moment snatched the title from a man that had defended it for years until that point. Everyone had counted Leon out because of his inability to wrestle at Kamaru's level. Those people were proven right until the kick. Leon's post fight interview remains iconic, but it is unlikely in the eyes of Vegas that he has another iconic moment, as he is a +200 underdog. Kamaru does particularly well in rematches- when he fought Jorge Masvidal the first time it was a bit of a snooze fest. In their rematch Kamaru knocked Jorge out in the second round. Expect a lot of smack talk out of Leon, as he's clearly enjoyed his time traveling the world with the belt. He exudes confidence that may be misplaced. Kamaru is coming back with a humble vengeance.
