I went 2-2 on last week’s blog and this week we’re trying to improve on that number.

Chargers -1.5 vs Eagles O/U 50

To me this spread is a prime example of overreaction. It is true that the Eagles won their last game 44-6. But it is also true that that game was against the Detroit Lions. We find that it is common for oddsmakers to give a team a little extra value to sway the public. What I mean is that if the Eagles did not score as many points as they did or lost that game, this spread would be much bigger. This is also the case because Justin Herbert of the Chargers is questionable to play this weekend. As we will see in another game in this blog, the news moves the line. He apparently exacerbated a preexisting injury to his right hand in their hard fought loss against the Patriots. He is limited in practice and so we are seeing if he ends up in the lineup this weekend. If he does play then I am taking the Chargers -1.5. They are 4-3 against the spread this season. They are also 2-1 as the away team. The Eagles are 4-4 against the spread and have not won a game at home yet this season. If Herbert does not play then who knows what will happen. I hate to make conditional picks this week but that is why we emphasize responsible gambling at Pickin’ Winners.

49ers -1.5 vs Cardinals O/U 46

This matchup is the other game I will be making a conditional pick on. The Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is currently day to day. He is dealing with a sprained ankle but the Cardinals say that he has a decent likelihood to start on Sunday. When this line opened the Cardinals were favored now that Murray’s status is unknown, money is coming in on the 49ers. The Cards are currently 6-2 against the spread overall this season as well as 4-0 away and 3-0 as the underdog. The Niners are 2-5 against the spread overall and 0-3 at home. These numbers speak for themselves. The Cardinals cover when Kyler is playing. So my pick is Cardinals Spread, if he is playing.

Rams -7.5 vs Titans O/U 53

The mighty mighty Titans are not so mighty anymore. They won and covered against the Colts last week but I do not see them covering this week. That is because their freight train of running back Derrick Henry is out with a foot injury that will require surgery. He was the focal point of the Titans offense. His unstoppable running ability made him the main target of opposing defenses which opened up opportunities for the rest of the offense. The Rams are having themselves a heck of a season. They are living up to the hype with Matthew Stafford at the helm. The Rams are 4-4 against the spread this season which in this case is not indicative of how good of a team they are. They are leading the league in yards per play and are 3rd in points scored, not to mention they just added former Super Bowl MVP Von Miller to their defense. I do not think that a reeling Titans team is going to fare well in this one. I will be taking the Rams -7.5.
