UFC Fight Night: Lewis Vs. Spivak - Best Bets, Picks and Predictions

Anyone else still reeling from the violence of UFC 281? That was my personal candidate for card of the year. I would've paid the cost of a pay-per-view for Chandler/Poirier (potential fight of the year) and Adesanya/Perriera alone. We've been given a solid Fight Night card for this Saturday, and while 281 will be impossible to follow up, this card promises excitement nonetheless.

We went almost perfect on the previous episode, and were two of the very few people to call for the championship upset of Israel Adesanya by Alex Perriera.

Prelim Notables

This week's prelim's have a cast of characters. Vanessa Demopoulos is a former stripper with some iconic wins and post-fight press conferences. She's a jiu jitsu specialist and credits her flexibility, dexterity, and core strength to 13 years of working her pole. She's on her way to becoming a fan favorite, and it has more to do with her personality and skill than anything else. Ricky Turcios and Brady Hiestand are alumnus of The Ultimate Fighter that fought each other on the show, and now face different opponents. They're both off to somewhat rocky starts, but have the talent to endure long careers.

The Return of the Black Beast

Derrick Lewis, holder of the most knockouts in UFC history, is one half of this week's main event. He meets up-and-comer Sergey Spivac. This bodes for an interesting matchup because Derrick Lewis appears to be on a bit of a skid, whereas Spivac's stock is rising fast. The biggest difference maker between the current trajectory of the two men is the level of competition faced; Lewis has encountered the who's-who of the heavyweight division, and Spivac hasn't. This will be a huge test for him and it'll be interesting to see if he can evade Derrick's night-ending punches.
