Intermin Champ Status

Yair Rodriguez and Josh Emmett face off for the Interim Featherweight Championship in the co-main event. This is due to Alex Volkanovski, the true belt holder, moving up to lightweight- at least temporarily. This is an interesting matchup, stylistically. Rodriguez is proficient in his standup game with fantastic leg kicks and dexterity while also having some great jiu jitsu off his back. Josh Emmett is a wrestler at heart but has fallen in love with his hands after developing into a solid boxer. Rodriguez is flashy and exciting, whereas Emmett is technical and methodical. These men are so different when it comes to game plans as well, based on their bodies of work, but can adapt well in battle. This is a great fight on paper between two guys who have earned shots at the belt, and should Volk lose in the main event, will be next up to fight him as contenders. One of which will be interim champion- get our picks at 47:27 of the show!

Double Champ Status

Should Alexander Volkanovski win this upcoming Saturday’s Main Event, he will be crowned Double Champ. The only thing standing in his way is a man by the name of Islam Makhachev. This man is a Dagestani wrestler, student/brother of Khabib, and current Lightweight Champ. His ground game is lethal and he’s finally got a standup game to match. Volk is a heavy underdog this week, coming in at +300 currently. This is the first time he isn’t a solid favorite in some time since his reign as featherweight began. He is an Aussie, so he’ll be fighting in front of a friendly home crowd, excited to see him because it’s been a long time since that country has seen the UFC in person. If Volk wins, he is very close to cementing himself as the greatest of all time. If Makhachev wins, he will have taken down a potential GOAT. It’s almost impossible to root against Volk, as he has cleared out the featherweight division with no one left to fight. This is his biggest test yet, not just in weight and size, but in skill as well. Tune in to 54:02 to find out the guys picks!
