UFC Fight Night: Song vs. Simón - Best Bets, Picks and Predictions!

We're back with another edition of Pickin Fights, and another opportunity to be well versed with Saturday's upcoming match ups. In the main event Song Yadong takes on Ricky Simon in a clash of rising bantamweights. Styles make fights, and these men certainly have fun styles. This fight was originally slated to be a three round co-main event on last week's card, and many fans were excited when it became a five round main event. Leading up to that fight is a card made for the hardcore fans as we prepare for UFC 288.

Tom and I will be in attendance at UFC 288, so keep an eye out for us on the broadcast. Familarize yourself with our faces by subscribing to us on YouTube, and checking out our episodes there.

Potential Bangers

With the heavy hitters on this card, it should be no surprise if we see a few knockouts. Some guys we expect to produce fireworks: Caio Borrahlo, Natan Levy, Waldo Cortes-Acosta, to name a few. These men can crack and have been in fun fights recently. Caio Borrahlo, in particular, is a guy we feel has a very high ceiling; a balanced virtuoso with a high fight IQ. I'm a huge fan of Brian Kelleher as well, and I like his well roundedness, adaptability, but moreso than anything else, heart. He's a gritty guy and has accepted a lot of the really tough opponents the UFC bosses have thrown at him, and is finally in a fight that favors him again against Journey Newson. Hailey Cowan also makes her anticipated debut, finally, after a series of cancelled fights and opens up the prelims.

A Definite Banger

Song Yadong has power in his hands and uses them well with mean boxing combinations. Ricky Simon has great hands, as well as a great submission game. This fight will be determined by who can keep the fight in their preferred element. Song would definitely like to stay standing, and while Ricky can withstand an onslaught there and fire back shots of his own, he wants Song on his back (pause). Song isn't nearly as good as Simon on the ground, and he is the man with the most ways to win. Song's best chance is to catch Simon, and in a five round bout he'll have plenty of opportunities. If he isn't submitted or wrestled to a decision.
